As long as the buckles are still bronze, I'm ok with any color.

So I haven't quite hit the word count for the day and just got off work with less than a half an hour until midnight.

Of course I don't consider it the 2nd until AFTER I sleep for some kind of length of time. I expect to hit it. lol

How goes the craziness?

Well, I'm off to a horrible start. 1,000 words in and I already hate my protagonist. :S

Here's a spoiler, I'm offing him at the end. :@

I managed 1914 words yesterday before I hit a logical place to stop and didn't feel like forcing it any further. Here's hoping I can keep that up at the very least.

Insanity is right... I spent the whole first day stressing out because I wasn't able to start during my usual morning commute time. (I write on the train...) But I was able to find some time and quiet space and make my day one count after things settled down at work.
After this morning's ride in I'm at 2918.
If I can pound out another 1100 on the way home I'll be on track for my 2k per day, week one goal.
Luckily I was able to off a couple of meaningless characters in the prologue.... mmmm roasted astronaut in the morning...

I'm off to a way slow start this month. I'm bouncing between a couple of story ideas. That and some urgent family issues going on have given a way low count. I'll make it up over the weekend if things get worked out tonight.

I pushed out about 2340 yesterday despite hating the first three pages. What seemed great in my mind wasn't translating on the page, but at least the bones of what I'm aiming for are there for when/if I go back to rewrite it in December.

Rough start aside, I managed to get into a pretty good writing groove after the first 500 words or so. Worked from about 730p-930p and when I reached the end of the chapter I figured there was no point in pushing it further.

Turning off the TV (watching Simpson dvds) and turning on the music seemed to help a lot too.

Starting the third day and I'm at 3346.

Still starting the piece which sucks because I want to GET INTO THE MAIN story. Setting sucks.

Taking a break to sleep soon and hit it hard tomorrow.

Hope everyone isn't feeling THE FEAR yet.

I can already see how after completing two days a month of this will Doom my diseased mind forever.

Amen.

I'm just a bit over the 7k mark, which is ok considering I lost about 1000 words when my laptop crapped out on me. At least it happened near the start of the whole thing, so I actually improved on what I'd written in the first place.

I should be further ahead anyway, but my wife has put The Sims 2 on the PC and it's kind of addicting.

Well... I'm still in it. After a tough weekend with a low word count I'm pretty much back on target as of this morning's commute. I'm clocking in at 12,500 and would like to see 14,000 by the end of the day.
I'm getting a little bogged down in trying to get the exposition of my set up done without having it be so... expositiony.
I'm feeling pretty good about what I can do numbers wise each day... but oh the nagging fears. I'm petrified over what I'm going to do in the second half of the book. I just don't know if I have enough outlined ideas to still be turning out 2k a day come 7 or 8 days from now.
I'm also worried that I"m writing a lot of words but the percentage that I end up editing and/or cutting may be pretty high.
Hope everyone else is still crankin'.
Good luck.

Every Wednesday this month, I'll be putting up a first-draft chapter of the novel to encourage me to keep working on the thing.

This week's Chapter Two

I've been adding chapters to my webpage as I complete a rough draft of them. Well, except the last chapter. 'Cause that'd be kind of jacked up for me to give away the last chapter before I finished the 3rd one.

I'm using this page as a portal. In the unlikely event that anyone finds it interesting, I'm including commentary about each chapter on that page.

I'm getting my word count but am shying away from posting the rough draft because I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself.

Otherwise I'll be rewriting and getting nowhere.
